OUR STORY
Damian Pallett (SmartBunks Founder and CEO) spent many years travelling the world as a backpacker. He soon learnt that backpacker accommodation was far removed from the comforts of home, as he endured many sleepless and uncomfortable nights moving from bed to bed, hostel to hostel. Today's youth generation demand better!
It's time to reform the dorm.
Yet it's incredible how many hostels around the world still mostly use the decades' old rickety bunk bed. However, change is afoot. Many operators have attempted to design a more modern sleeping environment. Some using their own bespoke, expensive, and singular solution, while the great majority are searching for an existing modern, feature-rich bunk bed designed for the 21-century.

With this in mind, we set about discovering what the sector wants. Considerable time has been spent researching the industry, speaking to numerous operators, and backpackers, to deliver a compelling sleeping solution for today's modern hostel environment.
We designed Smart Bunks from a blank piece of paper to deliver a compelling solution that we believe meets today's hostel needs in an exacting way. Furthermore, the modular design of Smart Bunks enables us to continually evolve the product design and functionality.
In time, this includes an integrated digital platform designed to connect backpackers with your hostel and community, such as social media initiatives, advertising revenue opportunities, and a flow of commission from backpacker tour and activity bookings.
